About this guide

The Boquete Long Stay Guide is written by residents of Boquete who have hosted many long-stay guests over the years: retirees on a scouting trip, remote workers, couples escaping the northern winter, families thinking about a move. The same questions keep coming up, so we wrote down the answers.

We are not lawyers, doctors or financial advisers. Where rules are involved, such as immigration, driving or taxes, we give an overview and point to the official sources. Please confirm the details there before you rely on them.

We also host long-stay guests ourselves, in a small aparthotel in Boquete. We say so on the page where it is relevant, and we recommend that you compare it with other registered rentals.
